The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Devin Lee Harjes, a gifted actor best known for his memorable roles in acclaimed television series such as Boardwalk Empire, Manifest, and Daredevil. Harjes died on May 27, 2025, at Mount Sinai West hospital in New York City after a courageous fight with cancer diagnosed earlier this year. He was only 41 years old.

Born on July 29, 1983, in Lubbock, Texas, Harjes grew up with a deep connection to the outdoors and animals, especially horses, which influenced his early life. This unique upbringing, coupled with a passion for performance, led him to pursue acting seriously—studying the craft and eventually moving to New York City to build his career.

Harjes earned recognition for his portrayal of Jack Dempsey on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, a role that highlighted his ability to bring complex characters to life. Fans also remember him as Oscar, a nurse in Marvel’s Daredevil, and Clyde, a bank guard in DC’s Gotham. His versatility extended to appearances in Orange Is the New Black, Blue Bloods, FBI, and the hit series Manifest, where he played Pete Baylor across multiple episodes in seasons two and three.

Colleagues and fans alike have praised Harjes for his professionalism, warmth, and dedication. Director Antonio DiFonzo, who worked with Harjes on The Boyz of Summer, shared heartfelt words: “Terribly sad news as we lost Devin Harjes, an amazing actor and friend. He was constantly striving to be better and put his heart and soul into everything he did! We will never forget you and your amazing part in The Boyz of Summer and our lives. Rest in peace, Lion Heart!”

Outside of acting, Harjes was a martial arts enthusiast and a fitness devotee, often joking about the safer risks of the gym compared to his childhood rodeo experiences. His family, including his parents Randy and Rosanne Harjes, his sister Trish, and beloved cat Maude, survive him.

Harjes’ untimely death leaves a void in the entertainment community and among fans who admired his talent and spirit. Though taken too soon, his legacy in film and television will endure through the memorable characters he brought to life and the hearts he touched.
