The Eiffel Tower was constructed for the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris and was meant to be dismantled after just 20 years.
Due to thermal expansion, the Eiffel Tower grows around 6–7 inches taller during hot summer days.
Gustave Eiffel built a private apartment at the top of the tower. It still exists and can be visited.
The Eiffel Tower is repainted every 7 years in different bronze shades to prevent rust.
