Downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, burst into a kaleidoscope of joy and solidarity this weekend as the Fox Valley Pride Fest returned in full swing — and with a fresh twist that got everyone talking.

Held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Jones Park, this year’s Pride Fest drew crowds from across the region, all gathering to celebrate inclusivity, diversity, and the right to love freely. But what truly stole the spotlight was the festival’s first-ever Pride Promenade, a heartfelt stroll through downtown streets that had attendees cheering, dancing, and waving rainbow flags high under the summer sun.

Among the many vibrant faces were Gary and Rick Schierl, turning heads with their matching shirts and beaming smiles as they walked hand in hand during the promenade. Locals like Zaida Vaughn of New London proudly joined the parade, showing that Pride knows no age or boundary in the Fox Valley.

The celebration didn’t stop there — music pulsed through the park as Alexandria and Emma Hess of Appleton found a spot near the stage, soaking in live performances that echoed messages of unity and love. Meanwhile, Tina Sadowski, armed with a colorful display of flags, kept the festive spirit alive, surrounded by friends and well-wishers.

Organizers called this year’s event a milestone for Appleton’s LGBTQ+ community. “This promenade was more than a parade,” one attendee remarked. “It was a moving symbol of how far we’ve come — and how far we still aim to go together.”

As the sun set over Jones Park, laughter, music, and the glow of acceptance lingered in the air, promising that Fox Valley Pride Fest will only grow bigger, brighter, and prouder in the years ahead.
