Kevin Feige Makes a Historic Donation to USC Says “This Is Where It All Began for Me”
Kevin Feige, the creative genius behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, gives a “transformational gift” to his alma mater USC School of Cinematic Arts — a heartfelt tribute to the place that launched his Hollywood journey.
Hollywood’s most successful producer has just added another legacy to his name — and this one has nothing to do with superheroes. Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment, has made a landmark contribution to the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts.
The gift — described by the university as “transformational” — will rename USC’s Division of Film & Television Production to the Kevin Feige Division of Film & Television Production, honoring one of its most celebrated alumni.
Feige graduated from USC in 1995, and nearly three decades later, he’s ensuring that future storytellers get the same opportunities that shaped his own path to Hollywood.
“This Is Where Everything Began for Me”
In a statement released by USC, Feige reflected on how the institution shaped his filmmaking journey:

“USC’s School of Cinematic Arts is the original film school, a historic institution founded by cinema pioneers. It’s where everything began for me as a producer, following in the footsteps of my heroes and walking the same halls as the storied alumni who came before me.”
Known for producing global blockbusters like The Avengers, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy, Feige’s influence on modern cinema is unparalleled.
USC Dean Elizabeth Daley described Feige’s contribution as “not just financial, but deeply symbolic — a gift that celebrates storytelling as both art and legacy.”
Marvel’s Mastermind Gives Back
Feige’s career at Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, transformed the landscape of entertainment. Under his leadership, Marvel’s interconnected cinematic universe grossed more than $30 billion worldwide, becoming the most successful film franchise in history.
Yet, despite his fame, Feige has remained deeply loyal to his roots. His donation to USC isn’t just a philanthropic gesture — it’s a statement about mentorship and continuity.
“This division will help ensure that the next generation of filmmakers have the resources, technology, and inspiration to tell the stories that define their era,” Feige said.

The new Kevin Feige Division aims to expand USC’s production capabilities, from advanced post-production labs to new sound stages, while offering scholarships for underrepresented filmmakers.
A Full-Circle Moment
Feige’s gift has also inspired a wave of nostalgia and gratitude from Hollywood peers. Directors like Jon Favreau and Ryan Coogler, both of whom have collaborated with Feige on major Marvel films, praised his commitment to nurturing new talent.
Favreau shared on X (Twitter), “Kevin has always been about empowering creatives. This gift just proves he’s still producing heroes — only now, they’re filmmakers.”
Coogler, who also studied film at USC, added, “It’s surreal to think that students walking into those classrooms will now see his name and know that dreams built in those halls can reach the world.”
The Legacy of Storytelling
Feige’s gesture comes at a time when Hollywood faces rapid transformation through streaming, AI, and changing audience behavior. Yet his message remains timeless — storytelling is still the heart of cinema.
“Technology evolves, genres change, but good storytelling will always matter,” Feige said during a recent guest lecture at USC. “If our stories make people feel something real — that’s how we create our own heroes.”
As the entertainment industry grapples with challenges of representation and innovation, Feige’s donation is seen as a blueprint for leadership with purpose.
A Hero Beyond the Screen
For the man who built the world of Iron Man and Black Panther, this latest act of generosity cements Kevin Feige as a hero in his own right. Not one who saves the world with superpowers — but one who empowers others to imagine their own.
Feige’s legacy now extends beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the classrooms that will shape Hollywood’s next wave of storytellers.
“Every frame we see on screen starts with someone who dared to dream,” Feige said. “USC taught me to dream. Now it’s my turn to give that back.”

‘Onwards and Sideways’ Unveils First Images of Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans’ Powerful New Drama
The emotional film follows two lives transformed by unexpected diagnoses and is set to make its world premiere at TIFF.
A moving new drama is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and its first official images are already drawing attention for their emotional depth.
Titled Onwards and Sideways, the film stars Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans as two individuals whose lives are transformed after receiving diagnoses of Parkinson’s disease. Rather than focusing solely on grief, the story promises to balance heartfelt moments with humor, resilience and hope.
Helming the project is acclaimed filmmaker John Madden, best known for directing the Academy Award-winning classic Shakespeare in Love. The screenplay comes from Paul Mayhew-Archer, a celebrated British writer whose own experiences with Parkinson’s have brought authenticity to the script.

According to the filmmakers, Onwards and Sideways is designed to explore how life can continue with meaning even after a difficult diagnosis. Instead of presenting a conventional medical drama, the film examines friendship, resilience, vulnerability and the unexpected connections that emerge during life’s most challenging moments.
Joining Linney and Ifans is an accomplished supporting cast featuring Monica Dolan and Rory Kinnear, both known for delivering nuanced performances across film, television and theatre.

The newly released images offer an early glimpse into the film’s intimate storytelling, capturing quiet moments between characters as they navigate uncertainty with compassion and humor. While the subject matter is undeniably serious, the visuals suggest a story that celebrates humanity rather than focusing exclusively on illness.
For Laura Linney, the project marks another emotionally rich role in a career filled with acclaimed performances in films and television. Rhys Ifans, meanwhile, continues to showcase his remarkable versatility by stepping into a character facing profound personal change.
With John Madden behind the camera, expectations are naturally high. His previous work has demonstrated a remarkable ability to combine emotional storytelling with memorable performances, making Onwards and Sideways one of the more anticipated premieres at this year’s festival.
As conversations surrounding Parkinson’s disease continue to grow globally, the film arrives with the potential to spark meaningful dialogue while reminding audiences that compassion, laughter and human connection remain powerful forces in the face of adversity.
Whether it emerges as an awards-season contender remains to be seen, but Onwards and Sideways is already positioning itself as one of the Toronto International Film Festival’s most emotionally compelling premieres.
