Protests Don’t End With DOGE Exit Musk Faces “Musk Must Fall” Uproar on His Birthday

Activists are doubling down on the Tesla Takedown campaign, with fresh protests planned for June 28—that day marking Elon Musk’s 54th birthday. Despite the billionaire stepping away from his short-lived federal role heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), organizers insist “this is not over”

Protests against Musk began mid-February, targeting Tesla showrooms across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and beyond. With more than 60 actions already staged in cities like Delray Beach, Louisville, Decatur, and Washington, DC, tensions are showing no signs of defusing. In Georgetown, DC on a rainy Saturday morning, around 30 protesters gathered saying, “This is not over because (Musk) decided to go home with his tail between his legs,” according to organizer Melissa Knutson

The “Musk Must Fall” protest statement, now circulating widely, calls on people to “sell your Tesla, dump your stock and join the picket lines”—all with the aim of hitting Musk financially and reining in his influence. It also frames the campaign as a defense of democracy: “Stopping Musk will help save lives and protect our democracy,” reads part of the mission statement.
Financial undercurrents are already evident. Tesla deliveries have plunged 13% in Q1 2025—the largest drop in the company’s history—while TSLA shares have fallen approximately 14% just this week, nearly 47% below their December peak of $488 For many protesters, this slump is evidence that their campaign is working. One co-organizer, Sara Steffens, said she was “really encouraged” to see the stock decline .

Meanwhile, Musk and former President Trump have clashed publicly over the White House “big, beautiful” tax-and-spending bill. Musk labeled it a “disgusting abomination”, prompting Trump to threaten to pull government contracts from Musk’s companies. Tesla’s CEO responded by saying “Trump would have lost the election” without him .
Rather than quell dissent, Musk’s resignation from DOGE has seemed to galvanize the Tesla Takedown movement. Their Bluesky page encourages supporters to “recommit to the fight” on June 28.

Those closely involved suggest the protests will gain momentum — and are calling on pension funds and institutional investors to divest . Local demonstrators in Washington noted that attendees have no plans to relent, describing themselves as “tired of the billionaire takeover“. As the date approaches, organizers expect new turnout in both red and blue states—Texas, Missouri, Georgia, Ohio—and even internationally .

Whether Tesla’s recent troubles stem from political backlash or economic slowdown remains unclear. Tesla’s share price tumbled, wiping out roughly $150 billion in market cap after Musk’s clash with Trump and the federal spending bill debate.
Still, for the Tesla Takedown movement and its supporters, June 28 represents a moment to remind the world: the campaign is alive, and the message is loud—Musk must fall.

Electric Mini Countryman Isn’t Winning Hearts Despite New Tech
The 2025 Mini Countryman SE brings EV power and quirky flair—but can’t beat its gas-powered cousin on fun or value.

Mini’s bold leap into the electric SUV space with the 2025 Countryman SE ALL4 showcases clever styling and modern tech—but it falls short of delivering a compelling reason to quit gasoline. The dual‑motor all-electric setup delivers 308 hp—matching the hot-rodded JCW model on paper—but the real-world experience tells a different story.

At $46,375, the SE and the JCW share nearly the same price tag ($48,075), and both offer all-wheel-drive performance. Yet the SE drags an extra 800+ lb thanks to its 65-kWh battery, pushing its weight to 4,606 lb versus the 3,792 lb JCW, resulting in a 0–60 mph time of 4.8 seconds—slower than the JCW’s athletic 4.6 seconds—and notably shy of rivals like the Volvo EX30 .
Drive dynamics make the difference. Reviewers noted, after comparing both models head-to-head, that the electric SE “never felt as light on its feet or as eager” as the JCW due to its added heft and comfort-tuned suspension. Handling specs speak volumes too: the SE reached just 0.85 g on the skidpad versus 0.95 g for the JCW, and it needed 171 feet to stop from 70 mph versus the JCW’s tighter 158 feet.

Still, Mini kept the charm alive inside. The SE’s cabin brims with textiles, ambient lights, a fun fabric steering‑wheel spoke, and the brand’s signature circular OLED display—all staving off the dullness commonly found in most EVs. However, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto feel tacked on, and controls like regenerative braking frequently hide behind deep menu dives.
Yes, the ride is firmer, and the steering responsive, but Mini’s bold “Go‑Kart” moniker feels underdelivered. The SE is nimble as a daily commuter but lacks the spark buyers expect from a premium electric SUV .

Charging and range sit mid-pack at around 212 miles EPA (221 in WLTP), with a 130 kW DC fast-charging capability that still lags behind leading EVs. For city errands and quiet cruising, it suffices. But for spirited weekend drives? The JCW or competitors like the Volvo or Tesla offer better performance.
Bottom line: The Countryman SE is a capable EV with Mini’s beloved charm and a sensible price, but it doesn’t surpass the JCW in excitement or range—and it sacrifices the traditional Mini driving thrill for a softer, more sedate ride.

Chevy Drops Thrilling RWD Blazer EV but New Styles and Features Still Shine
The rear-wheel-drive Blazer EV may be gone, but Chevrolet is still evolving its electric SUV with fresh aesthetics and tech.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV, only a year into turning heads as a bold electric SUV, is shaking up its lineup once again. According to an updated fleet order form spotted earlier this week, Chevy is quietly retiring the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration for the 2026 model year—leaving shoppers with only front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) option.

Many fans will miss the RWD’s 365-hp motor and the spirited driving it enabled. Even though we only worked with it briefly, the rear-drive RS model impressed with its lively performance, sharp handling, and impressive towing capacity—rated at up to 3,500 pounds—solidifying its status as the lineup’s performance leader .
That said, Chevy isn’t leaving drivers empty-handed. The Blazer EV RS continues to offer FWD and AWD choices in 2026, ensuring accessibility for every type of driver. The FWD version brings a single 220-hp electric motor, while the AWD configuration adds torque and traction control for those seeking better handling or winter-readiness.

The changes extend beyond drivetrains, signaling a broader facelift for the 2026 Blazer EV. Goodbye, two-tone roof—a sleeker single-color look takes its place. Out goes the Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint, replaced by a crisp Polar White Tricoat option. And for the style-conscious, Chevy introduces a “Tech Bronze” package featuring 22-inch bronze wheels and bold black accents .

Production shifts are also underway. The refreshed 2026 Blazer EV, built on GM’s BEV3 platform, is now scheduled to begin rolling off the assembly line in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, around July 21, 2025.
We reached out to Chevrolet for official confirmation about the RWD cancellation and design tweaks, but have yet to receive a response. We’ll keep you updated as more details emerge—and if Chevy changes course at the last minute.

Best Selling Cars in Ireland May 2025 Ford Puma Kia Sportage Lead Sales
From the Ford Puma to the Mini Cooper, Irish buyers continue to favor compact SUVs and hatchbacks as EV sales quietly gain ground

May 2025 brought encouraging signs for Ireland’s auto industry, as new car registrations rose by 1.6 percent, showcasing a market still leaning heavily on compact crossovers and hatchbacks. While petrol-powered cars remained the go-to for most buyers with 71,291 units sold, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales saw a notable 25.8 percent surge, capturing 21.8 percent of the overall market share.

Leading the charge in popularity is the Ford Puma, which claimed the title of Ireland’s best-selling car for May. Combining style, practicality, and affordability, the Puma’s frugal petrol options and clever boot storage (hello, ‘Gigabox’) make it a hit with both first-time buyers and growing families. The newly introduced Gen-E electric variant adds even more appeal for eco-conscious drivers.

Right behind it is the Kia Sportage, securing the second spot with its versatile blend of family-friendly space, smooth handling, and a strong equipment list. Kia’s hallmark seven-year warranty continues to offer peace of mind, while petrol and hybrid options cater to varying preferences.

The Nissan Qashqai rounds out the top three — no surprise considering it’s built in Britain and frequently praised for its comfortable ride, updated styling, and hybrid choices. Its generous boot space and family-focused features have made it a reliable choice on Irish roads.

Sliding into fourth is the Nissan Juke, the compact crossover that helped define its segment. Now refreshed with bold exterior tweaks and new paint options, the Juke’s quirky appeal lives on, especially for urban drivers.
In fifth place, the Vauxhall Corsa proves small hatchbacks are still in demand. Affordable and now available with petrol, hybrid, and electric drivetrains, the Corsa is perfect for drivers looking for efficient, no-nonsense commuting — with a recent styling update adding modern flair.

Coming in sixth is the MG ZS, a rising star from one of China’s most prominent automakers. With impressive standard features, roomy interiors, and hybrid options, the ZS is becoming an increasingly common sight in Irish driveways.

In seventh is the Volkswagen Polo, a refined supermini that feels more like a scaled-down Golf than an entry-level city car. It combines class-leading build quality with efficient turbocharged engines — and even has a sporty GTI variant for thrill-seekers.

The Hyundai Kona lands eighth, standing out with bold design, an upscale interior, and multiple drivetrain choices including electric. It’s particularly appealing for younger buyers who want tech, efficiency, and style in one smart package.
Ninth place goes to the Peugeot 2008, a compact SUV for drivers who like a dash of flair. Its quirky cabin, fuel efficiency, and electric options are helping it climb the sales ladder fast in Ireland’s style-conscious market.

Finally, the iconic Mini Cooper secures the tenth spot. Known for its go-kart-like handling and playful design, the new Mini also embraces sustainability with recycled materials in the cabin and a cutting-edge OLED touchscreen. Available in both 3- and 5-door versions, it’s still the most fun you can legally have on four wheels.
