In a post on Threads, Wang said the collaboration will bring Midjourney’s technology into Meta’s future AI models and consumer products. “To ensure Meta is able to deliver the best possible products for people it will require taking an all-of-the-above approach,” he wrote. “This means world-class talent, ambitious compute roadmap, and working with the best players across the industry.”

Meta wants to rival OpenAI, Google and others

For Meta, the partnership is a strategic move to challenge industry leaders like OpenAI with its video model Sora, Google with Veo, and Black Forest Labs with Flux.

Meta already has its own generative tools — Imagine, an AI image model integrated into Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, and Movie Gen, a video creation system that turns text prompts into clips. But with Midjourney’s signature style and rapidly growing user base, the tech giant hopes to leap ahead in a sector where speed and creativity matter most.

Zuckerberg’s billion-dollar AI push
