Timothée Chalamet Ends Alter-Ego Rumors but ‘Lil’ Timmy Tim’ Still Steals the Show
After months of masked-rapper rumors, the Oscar hopeful teams up with EsDeeKid, name-drops Kylie Jenner, and turns a conspiracy into a collaboration
For months, the internet swore it had cracked a Hollywood secret: Timothée Chalamet was secretly moonlighting as a masked British rapper known as EsDeeKid. The theories spread during Chalamet’s hyper-visible press run for Marty Supreme, with fans dissecting accents, timing, and lyrical clues like amateur sleuths.
Now, Chalamet has put the speculation to bed — and then flipped it on its head.
Instead of denying the rumor quietly, the actor leaned into the moment, collaborating with EsDeeKid on a remix that confirms he was never the mystery man… but is more than happy to grab a mic.
From Conspiracy to Collab
On Friday, Chalamet and EsDeeKid shared a snippet of a remixed version of “4 Raws” on Instagram. In the clip, an unmasked Chalamet struts confidently beside the still-masked rapper, trading bars and breaking the fourth wall of the rumor mill.

Rapping under his tongue-in-cheek alter name Lil’ Timmy Tim, Chalamet references his upcoming film, his A-list life, and even his relationship with Kylie Jenner.
“Trying to stack $100 million, girl got $1 billion — what the f***, what a wonderful feeling,” he boasts, before doubling down on the surreal crossover:
“My life is an opera, look at the Oscars, look at the groupies, look at the movies…”
It’s self-aware, playful, and — surprisingly — not bad.
Yes, He Can Actually Rap
Chalamet’s affection for hip-hop isn’t new. Long before the EsDeeKid rumors, he’d spoken openly about growing up on rap and freestyling with friends. What’s unexpected is how comfortably he slides into the rhythm here.
It’s half joke, half flex — and entirely intentional.
Lil’ Timmy Tim may not be a career pivot, but it’s a reminder that Chalamet understands the culture he’s borrowing from, even as he pokes fun at his own celebrity.

A Strange Detour on an Oscar Road
The remix is the most outlandish moment yet in Chalamet’s Marty Supreme press tour, which has otherwise been tightly focused on awards momentum. After falling short of an Oscar last year for A Complete Unknown, Chalamet is once again in the conversation — and this time, he’s taking risks along the way.
Ironically, while the Academy Award eluded him, the A Complete Unknown soundtrack earned a Grammy Awards nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media — meaning Chalamet could still walk away with music’s biggest prize before Hollywood gives him its own.
Alter Egos Are Having a Moment
While the EsDeeKid conspiracy has effectively ended, Hollywood’s fascination with alter egos is far from over. This year alone has seen speculation swirl around musicians and actors experimenting with hidden identities, side projects, and tongue-in-cheek personas.
In that context, Chalamet’s move feels less like a stunt and more like a knowing wink — a celebrity acknowledging internet culture rather than fighting it.
He wasn’t EsDeeKid.
But for one remix, he was happy to rhyme next to him.
